Our Love Story

I've never shared how Jeremy and I met with y'all before. It's a random story proving life is random and God had a plan for us. I have visited Grandma's small town nearly every summer my entire life and my future husband was less than a mile away from her house the whole time. :)

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We have been together since 2006. :) We met when we were both in college.

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
This is a long one but good one. :) I usually just tell people that I met Jeremy through Grandma or cousin but there is a lot more to it....

I have visited a small town in Michigan just about every summer of my short existence to visit Grandma. I am from Houston so this city is...boring. When I was young it didn't matter but when I was 20 I needed something to do, somewhere to shop. I have cousins there but we don't have a lot in common. I needed to just get out of the house because I couldn't watch another bull-riding show on television. (Grandpa is obsessed!) So I logged into my old Myspace account on Grandma's dial-up computer. Talk about slow. Go-eat-dinner-and-come-back-and-it-was-still-loading-slow! I was over it quickly. I did a search for people in Grandma's zip-code around my age and their photos wouldn't even load. So I sent 5 or 6 people messages asking what there was to do in that town and where I could shop! The only person to write back was Jeremy. I read his message and he suggested a few places downtown. I then waited for his profile to load and he was HOT like fire. I replied back a simple "Thank you." and spent the rest of the trip with my family. Sure he was hot, but I lived in Houston. Didn't seem worth it to me. I remember immediately after reading his suggestions, I went out to Grandpa's garage and my little cousin and I played around while he worked on a car.
We were UNDER a car. Ha! I eventually took Cousin with me to shop at the places Jeremy suggested by bribing him.

Fast forward to 3 or so months later. I was in the middle of figuring out what was next in my life. I was getting over a weird break up with a marine that I was engaged to. Still. I had been struggling with it for awhile. We were never right for each other but it was rough and every Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts song was clearly written to help me think about my ex more. I remember I had an exam the next day and in my true way of studying I was on Myspace stalking people that I really didn't care about to procrastinate studying. Then his profile popped up. Who is this guy anyway? I have some cousins that went to high school with him. I grilled my cousin, Courtney, with questions. She said he was really nice and told me to go for it. On his Myspace profile was his AOL Instant Messenger screen name. I IMed him just to see if he would respond. He didn't at first. So I left it alone. A few days later, he IMed me.

So we talked and talked. Never really for a long time at once. It was the "Hey, how are you?" stuff a lot. Before I knew it, I got excited every time he IMed me. I knew it couldn't really go anywhere but I figured it would be fun to have a friend to hang out/MAKE OUT ha! with when I visited my grandmother. Hey just being honest! :)

After one night of us spilling our guts about our previous relationships and how much they sucked at life, we had bonded. Luckily, Courtney my cousin, was also a bond so we didn't feel like complete strangers.

Before I knew it I was flying to go see him. The only people who knew were my roomies. Dumb, Yes!. Fun? Yes! I just had to take the chance. We had been talking everyday for a few months so I felt like I knew him. If it didn't workout I would just go to Grandma's house. That weekend was hands down one of the best weekends of my life. We had so much fun.
Our first photo together after our first date. :)

Then there was lots of long distance, fun visits to see each other, and that December when we met each others family. (Several family members think we met that December because we never dropped the "I flew across the country to meet a boy" bomb on them" Ha! Sorry! Whoops....) I eventually moved there a year later and he proposed 3 months after that. :)

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell} October 2008. :)

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We got married in Muskegon, Michigan. Jeremy's grandfather was our minister and we said our vows in the same place his parents did. It was a small wedding with 75ish people. (That's small to a southern lady that usually attends 300+) It was perfect for us. Closest friends and family were there. Read more about our wedding here: 3 Year Anniversary & A Flashback
This photo isn't the best quality but captures one of my favorite moments: Jeremy realizing he was MINE. Muhahaha.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
I call him "Germ" because his little brother calls him "Germy." I also tell him he is a germ because he is always picking on me. I throw a lot of "baby" around too. He calls me "Fee" just like everyone else and sometimes will throw around "Phoebe". He only says "Baby" when he wants something ha!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. He's is an excellent father. He loves his special times with Ella when they are alone to give me little breaks. He spends hours making her laugh and chasing her around. He has the Jake & The Neverland Pirates theme song memorized! Ha!
2. He is hilarious. He always keeps me laughing about things and keeps it fun.
3. He's simply a good person. He hasn't even been grounded before. Such a goody-goody. I picked on him about this at first but what a great role-model for our children!

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
Jeremy and I went to Mexico for a fun spring break getaway. He was acting funny the entire trip and I just knew. We went out to dinner and found our way back to the hotel. He handed me a piece of paper with a clue and I had to run around the hotel to get clues to know where to go next. At one point the front desk clerk had NO idea what I was talking about and I had to calmly explain that I knew she had something I needed. After she finally handed it to me I took off running in heels to the elevator. (1. I don't run. 2. I don't wear heels.) I eventually ended up back in our room where he answered the door and told me to close my eyes. He ran to push record on the camera and got down on one knee. When I opened my eyes, I saw him in a room of rose petals. It really was beautiful. Prettier than the movies. :) Then he got nervous and kept it simple "You know I love you right? Will you marry me?" The ring is beautiful! I told him I wanted a ring just like Grandma's. Round and simple. :)
Playing on the beach!

Yay!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He is a "Which romantic movie do you want to watch?" kind of guy. :) I told him this year to NOT get me any chocolates.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Movie girl.. with my 100 cal pack of popcorn which I usually finish before the movie even freakin starts. :)

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
I've always wanted to take him to Italy. Venice and Rome are such beautiful cities and I love the history there. I have been once with Mom and I was in love the entire time. Pompeii is also very educational and fun to walk around. I know Jeremy would love it.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
Jeremy has to work tomorrow evening so we are going to wait until Wednesday and go see The Vow. I have heard mixed reviews about it but I am excited for some alone time. We will probably pawn Ella off on Mom for awhile too. :)

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
He asked me what I wanted and honestly I don't need/want anything. For sure no chocolate! Eventually I want an expensive ring from James Avery when I reach my weight loss goal so I will put my money towards that.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Make time for each other. Life keeps you busy and dates are important. Keep it fun. Dance parties in the living room kind of fun. :)

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
That's awholelotta love shoved in one moment.
